Scrabble scores

The Excel whole-dataset file

A sample InspireData subset file

I use these data as raw material for statistics education – they allow students to develop their own criteria for investigating such questions as...

  • Which is the better player?(Anad how do we define "better")

  • Does the time of day, or day of week, affect the outcome?

  • Does the initial score indicate the final one?

  • Are there changes over time?

...and so on.

It has also been borrowed for use by Scrabble enthusiasts and by colleagues teaching psychology, game theory, business, etc, in contexts from primary school to first year undergraduate.

Whole tables or just particular rows, columns, blocks, can be copied from here and pasted into a spreadsheet such as Excel, most standard data analysis packages, the excellent InspireData (available from TAGlearning).

If it's of use to you, feel free to use it and/or link to it from elsewhere. It would be nice if you let me know (and perhaps tell me what uses you are making of the data, or make suggestions) ... the email address is:
